Installation Questions
I'm running Windows 11 and I'm getting warnings to make sure that I trust LR_Setup before Windows will lt me open it.
This behavior has been reported in Windows 11 because of the built-in Windows Defender SmartScreen. Landlord's Recordkeeper
has legal copyright and a valid security certificate. It has been
tested by multiple virus apps and is safe. If you would like a more
detailed explanation, read this document.
I'm getting a warning from my anti-virus program that LR_Setup is unrecognized and might pose a danger to my computer.
This behavior has been reported, especially in Windows 10 because of the built-in Windows Defender SmartScreen. Landlord's Recordkeeper

When I click the icon for LR_Setup, nothing happens.
Your system is probably set up to block downloads from unrecognized sources. Shining Key Software
is a small independent developer and has not yet earned its
classification by the major companies as a "trusted" source.
Right-click the LR_Setup icon, select Properties from the pop-up menu, and under the General tab, unblock the file. For more information, read this document.
I'm
a little concerned about downloading the .NET framework as part of
the installation. Is it necessary?
The .NET framework is a system structure
that
supports the running of
certain programs in Windows. There are different versions of the .NET
framework, and which version or versions are installed on your system
will depend on its age and upon other software that you have installed.
In a Windows
10 installation, for instance, the update will likely not need
to occur
because a
compatible .NET framework is included as part of Windows 10.
Even if you abort the .NET installation,
Landlord's Recordkeeper may still be able to run, depending upon what
version(s) of the .NET framework might already be on your system. Try
to run
the program. If it starts up, you should be fine. If not, run the setup
again and allow the .NET download.
Using
"Landlord's Recordkeeper"
I've
added an IRS Category, but I don't want it displayed any more. How do I
remove it?
The program is designed not to remove a
category once it's been added.
There's always a possibility that entries might have been made in that
category for some other
property on the list. Just ignore it. It
won't affect any of the calculations.
General Questions
Is
there a Mac version of Landlord's Recordkeeper?
At
this time, the program is available in the
Windows version only.
